25 Years. A little bit wiser, a little bit older. Some of us did not make it. But for the rest of us, they are the immortals, they will live forever. Godspeed Gentlemen. And for all of you Double Seveners, A finer bunch of brothers no man could ever have asked for. God Bless and on to the next 25.....Chou.
2nd of December 1989…25 yrs back...a group of young boys “passed out” from the hallowed portals of the National Defence Academy. Dashing, as they looked, in their cermonial fineries, with weapons at hand, marching smartly to the tune of “Auld Lang Syne”. The last few steps under the Flag mast of the fabled “INS India”…the exultant toss of the cap in the air and suddenly from boys they became men. From Greenhorns, wet behind the ears to turning out to be fabulous leaders of men in war and peace… & now, a quarter of a century later, comfortably enroute to being just another bunch of dirty old men (This may take a while though). It’s been a fine ride... It has been a pleasure and a privilege… “Band of brothers” we were, and that is what we shall be till our last breaths.
We of the 77th NDA course, the “double Sevens”…guys who rode their luck twice over and then some… Kudos and cheers to each one of us. Look forward to the company of my brothers as much today as I did back then....
We lost a few friends in this journey…all of them went proudly doing what they loved best – Soldiering. We are proud of you mates…but we miss you… “To the world passing by…you are just another name; To us comrades…you are the world.”...Kats.
QM fort to Quarter Deck...a journey of life..shaping destinies...with the boom of figher ac..and the crescendo..77 course ki jai...as if it was all yesterday..heartiest congrats yo all my double seveners..may the Lord give you all the glory and success,!!....Shivi.
